Our Beliefs
Our Beliefs
At Truth Baptist Church, we stand firmly on the truth of God’s Word as our foundation for faith and practice. We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, and we are committed to living out its teachings in every aspect of our lives.

1. The Bible: God’s Inspired and Authoritative Word
We believe that the Bible is the perfect, infallible, and inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16–17). It is the final authority in all matters of faith, practice, and daily living. Through Scripture, God reveals His will, His character, and His plan for salvation.

2. The Great Commandment: Loving God and Loving Others
Jesus summarized the heart of our faith in the Great Commandment:
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-39)
We believe that our love for God should be reflected in the way we live, worship, and treat others. Our mission as a church is to love, teach, live, and reach—building a faith community where God is glorified, and people experience His love through us.

3. God – One God in Three Persons
We believe in one true and living God, who exists eternally in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). He is sovereign over all things, holy, just, merciful, and full of love.

4. Jesus Christ—The Son of God and Savior of the World
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23), lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins (1 Peter 2:24), rose bodily from the grave on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), and ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9-11). He is the only way to salvation and eternal life (John 14:6).

5. Salvation: By Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone, in Christ Alone
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace and cannot be earned by good works (Ephesians 2:8–9). Every person is a sinner in need of redemption (Romans 3:23), and salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 10:9–10). Those who trust in Christ are forgiven, justified, and made new in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17).

6. The Church—The Body of Christ
We believe that the local church is the visible expression of Christ’s body, called to worship, teach, disciple, and spread the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20). Truth Baptist Church is a local, autonomous congregation governed by the Bible, led by the Holy Spirit, and called to be a light in our community.

7. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper—Ordinances of the Church
We believe in two biblical ordinances given by Christ to the church:
-
Baptism: We practice believer’s baptism by immersion, symbolizing a person’s faith in Christ, their death to sin, and their resurrection to new life (Matthew 3:16, Romans 6:3-4).
-
The Lord’s Supper: We observe communion as a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice, proclaiming His death and looking forward to His return (1 Corinthians 11:23–26).

8. The Priesthood of All Believers
We believe that every believer has direct access to God through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:9). We do not need a human mediator because Christ is our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16). Every Christian is called to serve, pray, and minister in their walk with God.

9. Religious Liberty & Church Autonomy
We believe in the separation of church and state, meaning that the government should not control religious practice and the church should not be a political institution (Matthew 22:21). As a Baptist church, we are self-governing, accountable to God, and led by the Holy Spirit.

10. Evangelism & Missions—The Great Commission
We believe that it is our mission to share the gospel with the world (Matthew 28:19-20). We are committed to reaching Taylor, Texas, and beyond with the truth of Jesus Christ, serving our community, and supporting missions locally and globally.

11. The Return of Christ—Our Blessed Hope
We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13). He will judge the living and the dead, establish His kingdom, and bring eternal reward to His followers (Revelation 22:12).

At Truth Baptist Church, we are committed to teaching biblical truth, disciplining believers, and glorifying God in all that we do. We invite you to join us as we grow in faith, worship together, and impact our community for Christ.
