How God Led Us to Taylor, Texas

My wife Nicole and I have spent over 24 years serving in ministry throughout Central Texas and abroad—preaching, teaching, disciplining, and pouring into people. We initially believed our next chapter would take us to San Antonio, but as Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” And let me tell you, God redirected us to Taylor, Texas.

At first, we weren’t sure why. But the more we prayed, the clearer it became: God wasn’t just calling us to start a church—He was calling us to be part of something bigger than ourselves. He called us to break barriers and build bridges!

A Church That’s More Than Just a Church

I get excited when I think about the early church in Acts 2, people from every background and every culture coming together under the power of the Holy Spirit. They didn’t all look the same. They didn’t all talk the same. But they were one in Christ. And that’s what we’re building here. A church where people from all walks of life, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, young, and old, come together as one family. That’s the beauty of God’s kingdom. You see, God didn’t create us to be divided; He created us to be united under one name, Jesus. That’s what we’re about.

That’s what Truth Baptist Church is all about. We’re not here to build another traditional church. We’re here to build a family, a multicultural, multiethnic, multigenerational body of believers who worship together, learn together, and live out the gospel together.

This isn’t about keeping old church traditions because “that’s how it’s always been done.” It’s about being the church that Jesus called us to be. A place where people of every background, every generation, and every walk of life can find their home in Christ.

What We’re About

We’re about truth—not watered-down, feel-good messages, but the real, unshakable truth of God’s Word. We believe in deep biblical teaching, not just hearing the Word but understanding it, applying it, and being able to defend it in a world full of noise.

We’re about discipleship—not just showing up on Sundays but walking this faith out daily, growing in it, and leading others to Christ.

We’re about community—not just having a place to worship but being out in the city, serving, loving, and making an impact. Because the church isn’t just inside four walls—it’s in the streets, in our schools, in our workplaces, in our conversations.

And we’re about raising up the next generation—because this world isn’t getting easier, and our youth need to be equipped with faith that’s strong, unshakable, and able to withstand whatever comes their way.

Why Taylor?

Taylor wasn’t just a random city on a map. It was an assignment from God.

We looked around and saw a city that was growing, changing, and thriving but also had a need. We saw a place where tradition runs deep but where a fresh move of God is also needed. We saw a community that needed a church willing to break down barriers and build bridges.

We knew without a doubt that God was calling us here.

Here’s the Truth: We Need You. Yeah, you!

This isn’t about us just starting a church. It’s about a movement. And movements don’t happen alone.

So if you’ve ever felt like you wanted to be part of something real, something meaningful—this is it.

If you’ve ever wished for a church where people actually live out their faith—this is it.

If you’ve ever wanted to help build something from the ground up, something that truly makes an impact—this is it.

We’re not here to play church. We’re here to be the church.

And we’d love for you to be part of it.

Let’s build something together. Let’s make history. Let’s make Jesus known.

Are you in?

Let’s talk. I’d love to hear your story.
